about our inn

Arrive as guests leave as friends

Situated on a hilltop site in the historic Gaslight District of Clifton, the Gaslight B & B offers plush hospitality with quick access to the University of Cincinnati and downtown Cincinnati areas. This elegant 4 story home welcomes you with waving willow branches and a soft, bubbling waterfall, giving you feelings of leisure and coziness. These exterior delights are only a preview of the luxury and hospitality to come. Built in 1909, the house suffered extensive damage in a terrible fire on New Year's Eve 1998. Lovingly restored by owners Scott and Maria Crawford, the house offers all of the modern conveniences a busy traveler needs, yet retains the charm of the original stained glass windows and hardwood floors throughout. The original house boasted an in-law suite at the front second floor of the house.

In the renovation, the "in-law" entrance was preserved for use as a separate entrance for guests. The owners live on site, but have their own entrance as well. Guests share 2 living rooms, 2 kitchens, the first floor patio, and the second floor covered porch. There are 4 bedrooms in this 4-story bed and breakfast. The top/fourth floor is the Swiss Family Robinson Room and its ensuite bathroom. This floor was added after the fire and sits well above all neighboring rooftops. The third floor has a large kitchen where breakfast is served, a living room, and the Jewel Room and its bathroom. The second floor has another living room with a unique original 'doorway' onto the covered porch, and yet another kitchen, 2 bedrooms- Margaret Rose and Rebecca -and a bathroom across the hall from both bedrooms. Guests have the best of both worlds here. The owners are on site but there is a lot of space that is completely dedicated for guest use. It is their hope that, although you arrive as guests, you will leave as friends.
